One of the marine forums i used to frequent had these.

If there was enough people from the same sort of area, they meet up once a month or whatever, talk fish, swap corals etc.

In our case, we could swap plant cuttings maybe, unwanted fish etc etc.

Normally one member would host the meeting and his / her tank would be the centre of discussion. Obviously a different host each time.

Its just a thought, maybe get some discussion going. Is it a good idea, waste of time???????

I can imagine my husbands face. 'My fish friends are coming round tonight darling'.............that's not to say I'm not interested!

there have been several 'meetings' arranged (some by myself) and lots of people say they will come
in the end it is usually two or three that make the effort.
I for one won't be arranging any more and good luck to anyone that wants to try and arrange something.

I think reef central just had a tour a few days ago in San Francisco. Well, having a tour is a good idea around my area because there are loads of great fish shops within a 1 hour drive, but most areas dont have as many fish shops, so im not sure if a tour will work everywhere.

Probably a bit difficult organsing one really.

I have met with 2 people from this website - but you will get people saying ill come and then dont !

Another forum I go to organise meetings at public aquariums and other places like that. They generally get a good turnout :)

i'll attend if its at my home (London) or round the corner in my local pub, saves me having to travel, i dont mind doing the tea and coffee or beers?

Edit for :hyper:
