Adam, I bought an ex1200 for my tank months ago and it keeps the water absolutely clear and it is virtually silent.

Got it up and running with no problems - certainly a bargain at the price it's sold for.

I also have a Tetratec 1200 for my 180 liter tank . Great filter , easy to set up, silent running, cant fault it. When i upgrade to a bigger tank i might buy another one .

Superb,
I love the primer very by far better than the Eheim Eco,
Never had any bypass the flow rate is good.
A little over powered for my 22.2gal comes with a spray bar which is superb :good:

Just turn the spray bar knob down to half like i have on my 40 gallon tank.

"spray bar knob" ??

do you mean the tap on the inlet and the outlet from the canister?
The tetratecs dont have an adjustment on the spraybar (or at least the didnt when we bought ours)

Good to see so many other people like this filter as much as I do. I bought my EX700 just a year ago (my first external) and I think it's God with knobs on. I've had to set it to ripple the water's surface just so I know it's still working without me having to open the cabinet door to check every time I walk past the tank- it really is that quiet. Fabulous customer service from Tetra, too. That goes a long way with me. I can't see anyone being disappointed after buying any of the Tetratec externals.

I now have adams filter
its only 6 months old, give me the guarantee cheeky :shifty:

How often do you clean yours? Some people say they clean there one one per month , while others say if the water is still flowing through the spray bar and the water perameters are o.k let it be. What do you think.

haha , didnt come with any documents as such , as i mentioned to you , if ANYTHING goes wrong , email tetra , my valve snapped the other month and they sent it out first class free of charge , surprised they didn't even want to see proof or purchase or anything.

Pretty good customer service i recon

In the twelve months I've had it, I've cleaned it three times; but then I only keep Platys, Cardinal Tetras, Pencilfish and Harlequin Rasboras, so there's only really the Platys that are messy. I clean the tubing every three months and just give the media a quick rinse - it doesn't desperately need it, but as I've taken the tubes off to clean them it's no big deal to clean the media at the same time. I've never seen the flow drop noticeably between cleanings. As I said, I wish I'd got one when they first came out. I've never used the spray bar, btw, just the normal outflow pipe.
