Fish Fanatic
I was reading ads this morning on Craigslist and a girl in my area was giving up four tetras because of some overcrowding & nipping issues going on in her tank. I ended up emailing her because I had a feeling no one else would take them (she posted on the Craigslist for the city I live in, but we both live rurally). I've had bad luck giving things away and selling things when I am not in the city - the college I go to is there but I am home for a few days. So long story short, I adopted what I was told were two "pink spot" tetras and two black skirt (or phantom?? I can't tell, they have no stripes right now, probably from rehoming them) tetras this afternoon. I have two tanks and plenty of space left.
I was just surprised when I got them because I didn't know the size they would be, for one. And also I can't find any information about these "pink-spot" tetras online. They're both about 3" and are white/grey with a red stripe across them, and a red spot on the side. The upper fin also appears to have a black patch.
During the move one of the fish was laying at the bottom of the bucket I had them in and I am a bit concerned - it's been doing fine since floated them and let them into the ten gallon though.
I'm also not sure whether or not I ended up with black skirt or phantom tetras. The person I took the fish from didn't seem to have much information (either that or I was distracted by her two breeding angel fish pairs and all of her ciclids and different tanks... )
Oh and also, is it weird that there are only two of each? I know these are schooling fish and was under the impression they should be kept in odd-numbered groups (the black neons I have are in a group of three).
I'll post some photos later and hopefully someone can help me identify what type of tetras they are, then put them in either of my tanks accordingly.
