Tetra Ex1200 - It's Mahooosive!

Thanks guys :) lol it has been good help because I was really close to returning it. I don't want to put it in the middle because it's ugly and you'd have to wedge it in there, again causing probs for maintenance time.

It'll be relatively subtle sitting on the floor between the side of the tank and the wall, will it be noisy?

It is a beast. To reduce flow I've taken the spray bar off mine. It just comes out the u bend. If I ever get my finger out I'll be drilling the back centre piece and placing the filter in the middle.

Are your eyes wonky?
no not at all, just the picture doesnt show the divider behind the door on the left

Once set up, how often are you going to have to take it out? Once every 12-15 weeks or so. Me? I'd take the opinion if it fits in the middle I'll be able to get it out 3 or 4 times a year. If I didn't like the look then a trip to a DIY store to get a bit of conti or furniture board cut to size and held in place by some of these

Ello :D

Homebase up near Asda and PC World can cut you some board exactly to your measurements for nowt providing you're buying the board off them of course :D

I got a load done when I needed a custom sized PC desk. Not expensive either so :good:

I kind of like the idea of putting my cookbooks there tho lol

"Floyd on Fish" and lots of fish recipes perhaps?

I fit it into the middle section of my juwel 180 cabinet, drilled out holes in te back for pipes. Very easy.

Then I cut a bit of ply the same size as the space, covered it in wallpaper. Looks great.

I have a pic of it somewhere on this forum...

:)

I've seen your thread and pic of that, it looked really good. You should search it Almost. I would put it in the middle if I were you...what if you have to medicate and run carbon after, or some kind of maintenance comes up unexpectedly...thing happen with these fishes.

I've just got one of these filters courtesy of mint and it doesn't fit in my cabinet - I did look at the dimensions before and knew this though!!

Tbh one thing I'll say is it's absolutely whisper quiet so even though mines on laminate like you have, I can hardly hear it.

Luckily my tank is in the corner of the room but about 1ft from the wall so I just popped it in that place and nobody ever looks right in the corner!

It won't be a whirlpool either, you can adjust the flow.
