To be honest I think the EX700 would not be enough for your tank, I started off with a EX700 for my tank and soon realised that it waqs not strong enough, thats why I now have both a EX700 and a EX1200 on my tank.

Just play around with the placement of the spraybar, you should be able to get it so your betta can find a nice still (ish) part of the tank to hang out in

i must be looking at it wrong.to me it looks like the left is twice as wide as the right.

Point it towards the glass if you feel it is too strong or drill out the holes so they're 3x the size.
