Unless you kids come up with a solution here I'm returning it for the EX700 - doh!! Gutted.com (oh and feeling a little stupid so...you don't need to tell me I am!)

Looks like some serious woodwork is needed there OR as you say, return and exchange for the 700.
On the other hand, mount it on a thick piece of polystyrene and place it behind the cabinet??

And remember if you do return it for a EX700 you will also have to send your Hydor 300W heater back for a Hydor 200w Heater, becuase the 300W will only fit 16mm pipe work where as the EX700 pipework is 12mm so you would need the 200W heater to fit it

Beleive it or not I also got a Hydor 200W heater which fits 12mm pipework which I could throw into a deal
