Testing your water

Just wondering how often people test there water as the kits suggest weekely but if people with several tanks do that they'll be using a complete kit each time.

I'ved only done 1 test so far when i thought I use going to get my crabs but they hadn't come in with the order

I haven't tested my 25gallon yet, although I'll properly do one soon before I start stocking it.

I only test when i have problems.

If you follow a regular water changing schedule there shouldnt be any problems so there is no need to test.

i test daily while cycling, but then only when i suspect a problem once it is established

Hmm I think I should of changed the wording slightly like-

Only when buying fish
only when disease
and then one with those 2 combined!!

I only test for pH and nitrate with any regularity and then only in the tank that contains the stingray, i test this tank weekly as rays are sensastive to changes in water quality and are bloody expensive . In established tanks with reasonable stocking levels and regular maintainance you pretty much learn to know when something is wrong in time and regular testing becomes unnessesary.
