Test Kits Yes Or No

I feel a bit out of my league commenting on general questions with seasoned fish keepers but I got my first tank about 3 months ago and now have 3. I started off using the tetra 6in1 test strips but found them not that accurate on results, I now use the Tetra single tests ( the dropplet ones ) bloody expensive to get them all initially but far more accurate.

Every member is valued on the forum, regardless of experiance. And your input is just as good and helpful as anyone elses. :good:

here here well said that man

I started off with a Nutrafin Master Kit six months ago, but considering the price I paid (£40, which I thought was a great deal at the time LOL, having seen API for £18 on ebay recently) and the fact that the nitrate test is worse than useless, I will be APIing soon (ammonia test #3 bottle ran out the other day).

It's the internet.. just rock up and start posting :p

I'm still cycling my very first tank and after killing 3 black neons I have found exactly the same as you - the test strips are a waste of money. Someone else commented to similar effect, I just bought an API master kit today and it is far, far better quality. It helps when you can reliably see what's going on and the strips didn't do Ammonia which is.. well.. kind of important to know when you're at square one!!

would like to hear from any one on the test kit thing
used to have a friend that said if you start testing you
would frighten your self well i got a test kit (going back 20yrs +)
and yes he was right it frighted the life out of me i now test fortnightly
if i spot anything out of the ordinary then i will test check results
adjust with W/C if it can be then retest again a few hrs later not straight away
as it needs time to settle getting into the micro reef thing i suppose i
will have to getting to test once a week again why do we sometimes make things harder for ourselves
