Hi,

I bought a pair of Rams over a year ago and they were labeled Bolivian. Recently I've been researching stocking for my tanks and I believe them to be German Blue Rams. Is the easiest way to tell Bolivians apart from German Blues that the German Blues have red eyes?

Here is a picture of my pair:

What do you think Bolivian or German Blue and why.

Thanks as always for reading my post,

Andy :)

Definetely German Rams, not sure if blue or gold because of pic quality. I have a bunch of Bolivians and if you saw mine youd know you dont have the same thing right away. German rams have more colour on them and more different colours on them than do Bolivians. That said, theyre almost the same in every way :)>

Definitely German Rams, not sure if blue or gold because of pic quality.

That's one of my best fish pics. lol

If they are German Rams they are definitely Blue as I also have a pair of Gold Rams, and they are very different in colour.

So am I right; Bolivian Rams clear eyes, German Blue Rams red eyes?

Andy :)

You really cant mistake them tbh, they look totally different in colouration and size.

As DarkEntity said they have far more noticeable differences than the colour of their eyes.

These are a coupe of pictures I found while googling, and I personally think the most obvious difference is the eyes. I appreciate that these aren't the best pictures, but I think it shows my point of the difference in eye colour being a easy way for me to tell them apart. My Rams look very different colours in natural, flourescent and cold cathode light. I can now tell them apart by their colouration though.
