I was driving across a sagebrush flat one time and one decided to race me. (They'll do this sometimes; no one knows why) He was about 50 yards off to my side, keeping pace with me. I pushed on the gas and kicked it up to 45. So did he. I was on a rough two-tracker road, and he was out in the knee-high sagebrush, tooling along and not ever working. After a mile or so, he decided he was tired of the game, and kicked on the afterburners. I mean, he was GONE. Left me literally in the dust. He must have been doing at least 60. They are amazing animals. Not just in the culinary sense.
