You can still feed them and he sounds a lot happier anyway.

I feed my fancy on sinking pellets as they do seem to suffer from swim bladder when fed ordinary. I noticed last night that he isnt digesting it as i tis pooing out almost as it went in!

Telescopic is very happy but he has red streaks on his back fin. Is that stress or cold water or something cant remember?

It could be stress or ammonia and nitrites being high. Keep checking the water cnd reduce his stress levels if you can and keep doing small water changes with gravel vacs to keep the water good.
Any pics yet?

Could be due to poor water quality or this, not the writer of this information below.
Septicemia

Symptoms:

Fish may have reddening at fin bases, blood streaks throughout the fins and body, small hemorrhages around the eyes. Dull listless behavior and lack of appetite may also be present.

Cause:

Systemic bacterial infection caused by various bacteria, including Aeromonas, Pseudomonas and Vibrio. The illness is often brought on by poor water quality or as a result of parasitic infestations or other infections. These bacteria enter the blood stream and circulate through the tissues causing inflammation and damage. Inflamed blood vessels in the skin and at fin bases stand out. Blood vessel and heart tissue damage cause hemorrhaging and consequently leakage of body fluids into the abdomen, which may lead to Dropsy.

Treatment:

Water conditions must be improved for all fish in the tank, regardless of how many fish are infected. Check your water’s Treat with Kanacyn or Tetracycline as well as with a medicated food if the fish will eat. If parasites are suspected, all the fish in the tank should be treated with antiparasitic medication. Using salt to help restore osmotic balance might be helpful.

Just been looking at my telescopic goldfish, I think the growth thing on his side is hardly any different seems to have stayed the same. He isnt happy in his hospital tank so I am going to set up a larger tank, and have him in there by himself. Make sure the water condition is ok and let him live his life out in luxury. What do you reckon? I suppose I could still treat him with medication but it says treat every 48 hours it doesnt say for life! God knows where I am going to put the tank though.

Going off topic. I went into a year 3 classroom yesterday, a newly qualified male teacher, but very keen. He has a goldfish in a tank, lovely big orange fish that someone didnt want. Fish is so lively and happy. Then in another corner of classroom he has a bank of tanks with african snails, toads, green minnows and then a lovely tank with 3 really fancy fish in that one of the kids mums got fed up with. They are all in such lovely conditions which is unusual for a school!
