Tattoo Balloon Mollie?

I was given 2 as a birthday present. They have hearts tattooed on the side of them, one died just 3 days after i got it, and the other is still swimming around in the tank...but my question is, do the tattoo's harm the fish in any way? I did some research and found that they are lasered onto the fish through a piece of plastic used to hold them down. I dont think that i would have personally picked these fish out for myself, since it sounds kinda cruel to me...but anyways, any information about them or if they have different needs or shorter life spans because of the tattooing would be great! Thanks

These do not tend to do to well.

Many die in the tattooing process and many more die when recovering then it due to infection.
Their not a good fry to buy as it encourages this practice.

I refuse to buy ANY altered fish like that, be it ink or neon gel injected into em, ect ect.

Thank You, My husband is AD army, and im a Navy veteran. The area is...interesting. Were from California, and its nothing like there to say the least! Very humid here. altogether, not to bad though

my LFS a few months back had a tank full of white balloon mollies tattoo'd with hearts, very sad day to find that. i support these guys by buying their products I also noticed some other fish dyed like marine and some fw parot fish

I think it is wrong and many fish die very fast because of this. and alot of people think the fry will be born with the "shape" on them only to find out NOT! i hope you don't support any LFS that sell these fish and make a complaint about it.

Im from San Diego, pops was 22 year career CPO MMC out of north island and 32nd street most the time, If he wasnt at those two or FTC he was at GL or overseas.

You think its humid there, move a little east into the gulf moisture belt, oh you wanna talk about some sticky heat.

I was stationed out of Ft Jackson when I was stateside, went to italy once via germany.

I just wanted to make it clear that i did not purchase these fish for my self. They were a gift, and i will never buy them in the future. [both have died at this point]
