Tap Water

morning all
ive just tested my tap water and it contains a trace of nitrates.
will this affect my tank?

no it's fine, plenty of people have up to 40ppm of nitrate in their tap water, if you've just got a trace all it means is you'll probably never have 0 nitrate in your tank. There's evidence to suggest that it doesn't affect fish until it gets up to 100ppm+, generally we say it's a good idea to keep it below 40ppm as we know this is safe for nearly all fish.

Miss Wiggle is correct, my nitrates are about 30-40 out of the tap. no probs.
