Tannins

I have recently re-lanscaped & planted my tank. I had a hair algea problem so used it as an excuse for a whole tank mod. I got rid of all the small bits of bogwood & all the plants. replaced the bogwood with a Mahooosive piece, added a small slate pile & replanted with about 40ish Vallis which I hope will multiply into a good size forest.

The bogwood has started to leach Tannins.

Now whenever this has happened in the past I have gone to great lengths to remove the dis-colouration. This time I just think it looks amazing, the aquarium looks like a real underwater scene from a river & the fish seem quite unfazed.

Funny how we change our minds about what looks good aint it?

I am also loving the new unclutered look of my tank.

Nah i have seen a good tank with tannis in and it looked nice.

I love the look that tannins give in my tank,certain fish have this in the wild.
I have Cardinal Tetras,Black phantom tetras,Apistogramma cacatuoides,and some otos in my tank.
I have lumps of bogwood and i add Indian Almond leaves,these also add tannins.
I dont know if you can see in this photo but the water is not crystal clear

Wierd but that photo doesnt show the colour.

Mine does that too! Looks much more tanniny in person. Nice tank, though. I like the zen feel.
