Hello eveyone .
I will be upgrading my tropical tank to my dream come true. I am after an 8ft x 30" x 24" tank .
After viewing quite a few different suppliers across the country i came across some body selling new bespoke custom built made to measure tanks on ebay. She goes by the name LUSH_LOLA .
The info she provides ticks all the boxes and the price for the tanks are fantastic .
I am in to minds however, she has 100% feedback but i was wandering if any of you good folk, have ever purchased a tank off her and how do they stack up , as i have heard about some dodgy tanks being mass produced and imported from abroad . I am new to the site but have viewed it many times before as you are all very informative . Or who do you rate as reliable tank builder / supplier .
Any advice would be much appreciated :)
Thanks

i know the seller you mean i spoke to them and got a few quotes for odd sized tanks making braceless for planted set ups and they were very knowledgable the tanks they have on ebay look very good and the prices like you say are excellent if your unsure you could get 1 made buy 1 of the established tank builders like ND aquatics but your likely to pay 2-3 times more for it.

Yes thanks mate ,
You are spot on about N D Aquatics they want just over double for the same tank .
Well in for a penny in for a pound . Think i might give Lush_lola a chance .
Will let you know how i go on .
Cheers

i also spoke to this person the other week, after a quote for several smaller "grow out" tanks.

it was extremely cheap and sounded a little too good to be true... approach with caution i would say.

the way i see it is every company has to start somewhere even the big makers like ND aquatics and wharfaquatics would have started out like this i say go for it the stand for it to sit on will cost a bit aswell

I Love Ebay! I got my 360L custom build tank, Tetratec 1200 filter, external heater, Amazing granite as display pieces, full range of ADA substrate, 10L of Sera dechlorinator, ADA plant ferts, the list goes on....about £1k worth of stuff, all for £250! Score!

Thanks every one . These are all great advice , i have sent a couple of emails back and forward but not spoke personaly with the ebayer seller.
She seems to be able to deliver what i want ... (8ft x 30" x 24")
The tank will be transported in a packaging crate she says . £100 delivery by courier. They only deliver by one man to the adress , how many people do you think it will take to lift and carry and pass through a window ?
By the way they also producing cabinet stands and hoods at great prices . Hood for £100 i think , will go back on ebay and check .
Health and safety says one man for every 25kg - need about ten men !!
Will be constructing base myself as i renovating kitchen at moment so will build base unit for it in brickwork with doors on .
Still knocking plaster off at moment .
This going cost a few bob so better get some hours put in. ha ha
Just been adding up cost of gear for tank set up - OUCH !
Right where is my hammer!

I havent got her email - i only been messaging through ebay mail messages but if you go on ebay you can get in touch with her through the item she selling. (ask seller a question etc)
Here is the item number -
8ft x 2ft x 2ft NEW FISH TANKS IN 10MM GLASS
Item Id: 200586605393

Hope this works for you
or if you search ebay members feedback for Lush_Lola you will find her no probs.

Its me again !
Got hood supply mixed up as i have looked at that many different suppliers.
It was A C Aquatics who got some good prices for cabinets and hoods .
They also do 0% finance over 12 months as well . Just 25% deposit .
Tempting or what ? :hyper:

the tank in the photo does appear to be well made , i would ask what the safety factor of the tank is , if its less than 2 , preferably 3 for a tank that size im not so sure id want it . that a lot of pressure from that amount of water . also make sure it comes with polished edges . id also want to know what warranty it came with . anything less than 2 years , again id avoid it .

Hi Mark,
Yes you so right about the points you raise.
I have mailed her these questions and await the responce , will let you know if i get reply.
I would hope for 12mm glass minimum with a safety factor of 3 - 4 would be spot on .
If i dont get a detailed responce then i will stay clear and go with N D Aquatics or A C Aquatics i think .
All these views and comments are very much appreciated. Thank you
Cant decide between wiers and sump or cannister filters either .
I still in the under gravel filter days . Ha Ha

if its 8x2x2 10mm glass will still be fine , its more when the height of the tank increases the step up to thicker glass is needed . :good:

1 thing id make absolutely sure of is how good the aftersales service / warranty is.

for example when i moved i found some damage on 1 of my tanks seems. its was shall we say "debatable" as to wether it was a defect or accidental damage . but i emailed nd a picture of it to enquire about a repair and they just said no worries your warranty is in date and made me a new tank / delivered it for free and took the old 1 away . imo worth the extra money .

the tank on ebay looks the part for sure , but as another poster said id approach with caution . altho if it is as good as it appears , youve had a right result :good:

Right on mate.
I started the idea of an 8x2x2 then started thinkin the extra height would look great . Cost more but worth it in my view.
Thats if can lift into house .
Where theres will theres a way .
Cheers

i just compared the 2 nd's 8x2x2 is just £14 more than that ebay 1 . ( im assunming youre getting tank only as youre building the base etc)

and if the price difference is that small , i would much rather go with a proven tank builder than a relative unknown .
