Tankmates in tall 40g: Black Tetra and Julii Cories

If you see your corys doing this not to worry as i've looked it up when it was happening with mine, even with the air brick going and oxygen blasting in, apparently the depth of a tank can cause a cory to take 45 gulps quickly from the top instead of one quick one and they can stop at the bottom longer.

Cories need to gulp air, that's why they go to the top. It's normal.

wanted to give an update here:

took NCaquatics advice and added more tetra up to 7 now. Added a few more cories so up to 8 now and then went with 6 zebra Danios. I would add more but at this point the tank FEELS its on the verge of being crowded (maybe because its a tall tank and not a long tank) so I'm holding off. Just wanted to the thank everyone for their input!
