a 20 gallon tank is standard right?
Anything up from 30 should be fairly big, i already have a 20 and a 30 but i want a larger tank for a centre piece for people to see.

Should i get a bigger tank or am i just suffering from fish-itus? :hyper:

A "standard" tank I think relates to the size of its surroundings. I have a 55 gallon tank in an apartment and I consider it big. In a big mansion, I guess a 55 would be small..... I'd say go for the biggest u can get!

Oh, and by the way, i think you ARE suffering from fish-itus..... I got the bug too! :D

If it helps, All Glass Aquariums starts it's "Large" tank section with 55 gallon tanks.

There is no tank that is too big!!!! I have a small house and I have a 55 gallon, a 10 gallon, and a small 2 and 1/2 gallon for a betta. I also have a 20 gallon long cycling. There is no such thing as too many fish tanks or a fish tank that is too big. (kinda like there is no such thing as having too much money) ;)
I have a small flat and I have a 35UK/41US, a 71UK/84US and a 16UK/19US in my living room!! Just as well it's sort of open plan!!

MTS is a good infection!!

LovemyOscar I couldn't agree even more with you, I guess it is in our nature to never be satisfied :D (did I spell this right). I started on this hobby about three months ago with a 5 gallon, It didn't take long before i plus it up 10 gallon(freebie), and I got a 33 gallon after two weeks, It looks pretty big but as soon as i put the deco and fish on it I with I bought a 75 gallon but couldn't afford it. My advise is to get as big as you could afford so that it would take a while before who crave for a bigger badder tank.....Just my 50 cent.....GGGGG-UNIIIT:D where the hell did that come from...lol

well... i started way back in the day with a 10 gallon, then later moved to a 29... that 29 is still at my parents house and they keep some goldfish. while i was in college, i had a 10G again (dorm room...need i say more?). now im out on my own, and have a good sized apartment for chicago, but still not that big (700sq feet i think)... I started here with a 3.5G for the betta that i had, then once he passed on i got a 29G about 8 months ago and it even feels small to me. i got another tank just recently which is cycling and its a 20G... if only i could just combine them all ;)

im seriously considering a larger tank, but i just dont know if i can do it here... i have room for something 2-3 times the size of the 29, but you also need to be careful about the weight on the floor since this is an older building... plus i just bought the Canon Rebel 300D Digital SLR camera, 2 Sigma lenses and a 4GB CF card, so that destroyed my budget for a while! lol! ;)

I have a 40 gall fw cichlid tank, a 20 gall fw community and a 20 gall sw reef tank at home in my little flat. I have a 15 gall fw community and a 10 gall sw reef tank either side of my desk at work.

You have MTS Moe, but don't worry it's a good thing honest. (MTS = multiple tank syndrome).

Cheers, Eddie

Personally, I think "big" starts at 55 gallons. I'm only up to 46. I think fish tanks are like boats: Once you buy one, you always want the next one that's bigger and better. Fortunately, they're much cheaper than boats—even though there are days it doesn't feel like it.

Don't forget, your floor must be able to support the weight of the tank, with water, rocks, stand, filters, etc.
