Hi,
New here, but I spent a lot of time reading through the threads looking for answers to my question, which is:

My old 48"x15x12 tank is to be replaced with a jewel 240 that my neighbour was going to dump!!!! New tank is 48x18x15. Problem is the base the old tank was on is not big enough to accomodate the slightly larger width. There will be an overhang of about 3/4" (1.5-2cm) along the front edge of the tank. The tank seems to have inbuilt ply and polystyrene in the base, and also appears to have a flat base not just around the edges. Will I get away with this or should I change the base, this is a brick base and won't fall over ?
thanks, and sorry for the long post.

I think you should be pretty safe with that, but it might be better if you can have an equal overhang front and back, assuming that is possible.

Thanks for the replies, I decided to play it safe and made a new base for the tank to sit on as wet coaster suggested.
