Getting confused messages from mates

How long should the tank light be on per day or should i say what is the longest it should be on??

the light should be on for around 8 to 10 hours if you have live plants.. make sure its no longer then 10 hrs or you could get algae.. how many watts is your tube?

I have mine on for 12hrs a day, if that helps.

I'd say between 10-12 hours if you have live plants - outside of this you may get algae problems...

mine are on for 10-12 hours. My saltwater reef tank is on timers.
