May as well keep them on.

You'll want a big plastic container and something to move the water around so that you don't just have a salt lump on the bottom. I use an air bubbler in a 5gal jug. Others use small pumps, which will get everything mixed faster.

cheers, will keep em on and add salt shorlty

i have a 30l fish tank not being used, could i use that to mix the salt in the ro?

The only problem you might have them is transferring water from spare tank to display tank. I'm pretty sure any reef safe container that is water tight is fine. I use a spare bucket i got from salt.

could syphoon (not sure how to spell it) water into bowl, and put it into the tank.

I don't bother with reef safe or food grade plastic, I have a big bucket with a tap and I put the water from it into a little bucket which I pour into the tank.

lol dad got fed up getting the ro water. he would rather have tap water thats safe to use

Don't use tap water! Only ever RO.

Salt wise if that's what it says..... :)

no dont worry im not gonna at all.
salt will be added soon, just letting heater warm water up first.

hoping refractometer comes soon.
and need to by a digital thermometor as i cant really understand the strip one.

I use a 25 litre container with plain ro in, a heater and a 400lph submersible pump. It's mixed to 1.025sg and up to temp in 3 hrs :p

Don't just add a load of salt in one go. Add a small cup full first and give the tank/container at least 30 min to mix.

Temp DOES affect sg/salinity so get it up to 25c first as most refractometers are calibrated at this temp.
