I set up a new 55 gallon tank Saturday. I added six large live plants and peices of bog wood taken from an established tank plus added the recommended dose of Cycle by Nutrafin. I added 6 small Tiger Barbs to start the cycle.
Tonight, four nights later, I decided to check the ammonia and nitrite levels. By this time the ammonia levels should be spiking and nitrite just beginning to show up.
I was floored with the ammonia test strip showed very little ammonia???
I dipped a 5 in 1 stick and lo and behold Im showing 20 ppm Nitrate!!! and not a drop of Nitrite???
Has this tank cycled in 4 days???
