Tank Cycled

I was thinking that it would probably be marine salt, getting some will get me a bit closer to the salty side lol

Lots of piccys of the your new babies when you get them!!! :good:

Oh and also before start changing your tank to brackish, check with the store getting them from how they keep theirs and if it is brackish at what salinity. For instance I am getting a GSP in month or two, have checked the store, they keep theirs freshwater, I will start my tank fresh and then slowly raise salinity over the weeks. Alternatively if the tank is at brackish, you may need to drip acclimate in a bucket so he is at the same salinity as the tank (no ideas how to do this but have read so). Hope that helps, all the best!

You have to use proper marine salt for brackish tanks :D Aquarium salt is not the stuff you want as this is just a tonic salt from what I can gather and a completely differnt item.

An SG of 1.003-1.005 is ideal for F8's and bbgs :D

The 1 F8 and 5 bbgs sounds good to me. I'd put the gobies in first and allow them some time to settle well and make sure they are eating properly before you add the F8. Decent LFS should ideally keep them in low end brackish conditions.

Planting in my brackish tank didn't work so I went for silk plants and moss balls along with a fake magrove root ornament. Java fern, anubias and even valisnera are suggested as plants to try in low end brackish set ups I hear. I tried them and failed as my lighting isn't that strong (one T8 bulb).

Looks like I am going to have to order them on line, been to 5 local fish shops near me, (all quite large) non had any f8's or bbg's in, one of them is getting f8's in about a month.

Drat and double drat

oh dear! Have you tried Maidenheads, they mostly do fresh but may have some..I will keep an eye out online for you :)

One of my LFS when I was considering it said they could order but I would have to be there as soon as the order came in and take straight away. There are ups and downs to this, but may work for you?

If not may have to keep tank ticking over for a month :(

Hmmm, I'd really want to look at the puffers before buying one! You want ones that are birght of eye, white of belly, not timid and certainly not nipped about.

You could look on Tropical Fish Finder to see who has them in stock then ring to double check.

HERE.

Thanks for that jennybugs, there is nothing in my area listed, I am going to phone Oasis in Manchester tomorrow to see if they have any in stock.
