Tanganyikan Project

Love the pics and vids :good:

Tight gits at lfs could`ve let you have the background cheaper :grr:
I had to replace my tube, annoying but had no choice as I broke mine too

Seems like it`s all coming on :good:

Posted the shells over on the calssifieds, to early in the morning  Was just trying to upload some pics. of the tank, photobucket went into meltdown :grr: The Multies aree having fun with all the new space, thinking about sourcing some more (they are my fave)...The Comps have found caves but hide when I put the phone near the tank, it's nice seeing the fry in the fishbox again, they have grown so much :good:

Took a few snaps tonight, all fish in hiding, again. Well I see the male Sumbus but they hide in there cave when I go near the tank.
Bigger external filter and external heater planned for next year as well as new stock, will change substrate and rearrange rocks then. Sorry no fish here, 2 males sharing a cave, hide all the time, the Multies seem to enjoy all the space :good:

95ltr fry tank 37 sumbu

Getting there, won`t be long before you`ve got everything done and sorted :good: :good:

I had a quick nose over at MA in Christchurch today, saw some Sumbu over there and have to say they look pretty cute, ugly but cute in a funny way :look:

Wow, were they labelled as Sumbu ? Can I ask how much they were , really hard to come by,,, how much are Cyps from MA ?

I didn`t notice the price to be honest sorry, but I remembered commenting on them to hubby because my nearest MA doesn`t normally have them although they are beginning to order more Tangs in so maybe that`s why they were there. I think they were labelled as 'compresicep (sp)'??

The price of the leptosoma differed between both MA`s, at my normal one they`re £22 for 2 but today they were marked up at £14 each with no mention of £22 for 2
When I raised this point of price with the Christchurch MA they said if I wanted to buy some they would match the price of the Wimborne MA.
I came home with another 3 and they`re now mixed in with the other 7

I was wondering if you had upped the numbers, so much for not being allowed any more fish for a while  I'm fairly sure tRI-MAr had them for less than a tenner, almost worth considering the price of a courier, none in stock now though

Compressiceps, there are quite a few species, they all get bigger than the Sumbu though, be nice to see some on the scene , as you say though "cute but ugly"

Hmm, I`m sure it had 'Sumbu' in brackets on the name tag  Oh well, you`d know better than me whether or not they`re usually available in shops ;)

I won`t be adding any more of the leptosoma now, I think 10 is enough seeing as they have yet to grow, I don`t want to overstock
I had a look as some of the Xenolatapia that they had in stock, very pretty but too big and not really practical for my tank what with having the punks and multies already. Maybe in another tank, some other day :hey:

Be cool if they were Sumbu that you saw , they are an "aquired taste". A shoal of 10 Cyps, that will look really nie, I think I would give the Xeno a miss, your tank must be a hive of activity, sore eyes watching it? My tank is really bare and really boring , can't wait to strip it and redo it then have it bursting with Tangs :hyper: Saying that , the BN plecs are enjoying thrashing about in all that open space with nothing to crash into, they are in for a fright in January
Are you thinking of another Tang tank (or two  ) before you go over to the salty side ?

It won`t be long before your tanks are all setup and stocked how you want them and I bet they`ll look great, even if the plecs do struggle at first ;)

Not sure what`ll happen with having another tank or even turning to the salty side, we`ve thrown ideas around and hubby would like a nice garden pond when we move so I think at the moment it`s likely to be my Tang tank and a garden pond.....possibly 2 Tang tanks but I`ll have to see how far I can push things when the time comes ;) :hey:

Ah, 2 Tang tanks, I knew you were hooked, there is definately something special about them :good: The pond sounds nice, I done one at my old house, had some time off work and the Mrs was doing lots of overtime so was returning after dark, it was nice at the weekend when she opened the bedroom curtains and said "erm, Sean, we've got a big hole in the garden"

That was a nice thing to do :good:

I must admit I actually quite like the Garden ponds, as long as it`s planned and created nicely though :look:

Hooked on Tangs?? Don`t know what you mean ;)
Hubby is getting to like the Tangs more and more every day, he even sits and laughs at the multies spitting sand and nipping at the leleupi as they swim over the top of the shells B-)
I don`t mind at all if he wants the garden pond later on, just so long as he doesn`t hand me a spade to start digging :hyper: :X

Hi, I wasn't happy with the 20gall fry tank, I felt they were all hunched up. I moved them to the 4 footer today, they are in with mum and dad and 2 Multies. I added some sand to the 20 and did a quick rescape, mighht put mum and dad in here, I could add some old Escargot shells in a pile at the left hand side and add the 2 Multies, hoping to get another 1 or 2 in the new year.. :good:
