Hey all,
My friend has a fully grown red tail shark that they no longer wish to care for. They offered me the tank as well, but I was wondering if the fish would be fine in a 30 gal community with black skirts and corydoras. Thanks!

From my experience with red tails is that you would want to move them to a 40 or 55 gallon but depending on the size of it right now you could keep it in a 30 gallon for now. When I had mine with corydoras in a 55 it bullied them a lot because it dosnt like tank mates to live in same section of the tank but I don’t know if it was just the one I had being a poo pop head or if it is like that for all of them. Knowing black skirts I would think they would do good with the red tail

Sounds good! I'll keep it in the 30 till I deep clean and set up their 55 gallon (it's gnarly right now). Thanks!

Was really worried you were going to say Red Tailed Catfish!!!

The 55 is spot on for them (though bigger always better) Tetras should be fine, Cories can sometimes have problems so keep an eye on them.
