Anyone use T5 lighting for plant growth and colour enhancement in fish? I know it's popular for marine but was wondering if it could prove useful in freshwater. Any comments?

Andy,

T5 is the diameter of the tube itself: T5 is 5/8", T8 is 8/8" (i.e. 1", standard slim tube), T12 is 12/8" (1 1/4" normal household tube).

T5 tubes produce more intense lighting than T8 and they are also often 'folded' so that you have two or four parallel tubes in one fitting. This is why the ends are normally different than for standard tubes as all of the connectors are at one end.

'fraid I can't help you with that as I don't know anything about the Eclipse hoods. Have a look on sites such as HelloLights which do various retro fit kits in the USA.
