If I get 5 swordtails...say 2 male and 1 female red ones, and 1 male and 1 female yellow ones, will the red breed with the yellow? Or just stick to their own?
Do not buy more males then females!!!!!!! 1 male to 2-3 females is a better ratio or you will get males fighting and harrassing the females. I have lost two healthy males even with a 2 male to 5-7 female ratio. I suspect the dominant male of doing in the others. I have not had more then 2 males in the tank at the same time and do not think that I will be going with more then one male at a time in my 30gal in the future.
Yes they will breed together, but as above, it is very important that you have more females than males, a ratio of 2-3 females to 1 male is required so that the females are not harrased to death by the males.
