My female lyretail swordy.....she is very small for a female swordy....I'd love her to have babies but I think she might be too small

Awesome looking tank. Can I ask if your plants are real and how you keep them looking so good?
Plants are not real....so they always look good!!! :p

I will be putting Real plants in the tank in the next week or so....ASSUMING that the light I ordered shows up soon.....

Thanks for the compliments guys....

Ooops! I almost missed seeing them (and after asking you to post them!). Pretty, pretty, pretty. Give your lyretail some time to grow up and then (hopefully) she'll turn into a baby factory. Love the wag male, kindof looks like the red neon lyretail female I just got yesterday (minus the wag coloring). I saw a lyretail female yesterday that looked almost identical to your lyretail, I had a hard time picking out who to bring home, but I only had enough money for 2 of them and the black lyretail female was a had to have. The LFS had a gorgeous dark, dark red wag lyretail female a month ago but I brought home the green wag lyretail, kicking myself now for not getting her. I love my green wag but I wish I could have gotten both. I hate it, everytime they get lyretails in I don't have any money!

Here's the red neon lyretail girl - still in the bag so you can't see much of her. She's been in an absolute panic since I let her out of the bag so I'm keeping the tank lights off and hoping she calms down soon. Poor little thing is so terrified!

Ohhhh..I love your swordtails..especially the orange/yellow twinbar one  The black gravel looks great!!

I just replaced the sand in my female betta tank to black gravel...I love it :D It really brings out the colors in the fish :)

Btw - we have the same background :p

Thanks for the comments.

I have a few plans for the wag swordy....I was thinking of breeding her with my white male platy....the fry would be SOOOO purdy....I like the twin bars so I don't think I would like to breed her with any of my wag males (platies or swordies)....

Yeah, the background is new, I only found it last week....in the "run out" bin at the LFS because there was only 35 inches left (I only needed 30 so it was perfect).....was 75% off what it normally would have been :D......

And polar....she'd BETTER turn into a baby factory....I tell her that all the time "If you don't give me babies soon I will replace ya".....:p And as for not having enough money to buy fish, generally I won't go to the LFS unless I know I can afford to buy fish (even if that wasn't my intention).....if I "happen" to be at the LFS when I have no money and I "happen" to see a beautiful fish I will buy it anyway....thats why my credit card debt is so high!!! I'll be interested to see some pics of the girl out of the bag when you can get some....she looks pretty....typical swordy though.....very freaked out at first!!!

She's doing a little better today. I kept the light off all day and just turned it on for an hour or so and then fed her some frozen BBS. She's tentatively swimming around now, still ducks under the heater as soon as I move, but at least she's not banging her head on the lid trying to leap out or running into the walls in a blind panic anymore. I wish I didn't have to keep her in quarentine, I think she'd probably relax faster if she was in the 75 or 55.
