Heya guys!!

Some advice,,

My lfs has a sunrise dottyback in there and have had him for some time, hes a lovely little fish and id like to tkae him home and look afterhim myself.

Ive done some reading on these guys and its said they could possibly eat ornamtental shrimps, has anyone had experience with them??
From what ive read its really down to the fish as too wether it will go for shrimps or not rather than species.
The one in the LFS looks very timid but this could all just be a ploy lol!

Any thoughts would be appreciated,
You can see my other stocking in my sig!

Thanks
Andy

Most fish are actually capable of eating small, benthic crustaceans. I'd imagine for the dottyback that it would be limited to teeny ones such as Thor (Sexy Shrimp).

Yeah, sexy shrimp might be at risk. Actually the real risk is if you put the dottyback in the tank BEFORE the shrimp. Usually if the shrimp (like a cleaner or blood shrimp) is established before the dottyback, it'll be fine.

my own personal experience with a neon dottyback is this. add any more docile fish of a similar shape or coloration first and dottybacks last. my dottyback stressed my jawfish to the point of sucide.

thanks guys! thats great, all the shrimps are already in and established, think i will get the little guy but im still gonna watch him like a hawk for the first few weeks, and my shrimp lol!
