Sump Question!

Wow, that's a unique overflow... For this to work, you'll have to angle the end of that horizontal piece down, not up. You'll also have to make sure there's a hole drilled in the top of the white Tee fitting (which I assume has a cap on it). That way your drain only sucks air through the hole in the cap and water through that long horizontal.

that white t-bit is not a t-bit its a 90D angle ! with goes in to a 45d angle pipe!

Ok well then is there any way you can attach a pipe/tube/something to that smaller hole in the 90 degree bend and bring that out over the water line?

NEW PROBLEM:

Why does the flow down the drain pipe goes ok... then suddenley goes reallly fast ... then back to normal!???

the water is probably draining rapidly and dropping the level in the tank. Then the flow rate slows down. Once the flow rate slows the pump manages to catch up and get the tank level back up a bit. Once this happens the flow increases again.

Sounds good tome :good: im learning i really am! i am very greatfull from all the help i do from the people one this site!!!

:good: THANKS ALL :good:

I think this could be my larst problem for a little bit... i get bubbles comeing down the drain pipe! but again ever now and then i will get abig splash of BIG BUBBLES! now is this the same as the flow getting fasster??

If thats the case do i turn the flow down on my pump as my drain setup is at its max???

Thanks again!

Well, when you get that waxing and waning of drain rates, one of two things is happening. Either the drain can't breathe enough air, or you're running too much water through it

????

i got two holes that are outa the water in my drain pipeing! with these open the fish tank fills up faster then it can flow down?

but with them closed up it will drain the tank but like you said it sucks air down the intake tube so i get a blast of big bubbles every now and then :(

I am slowley getting there and am greatfull for the help i am getting!

Do you have any horizontal runs in your drain line (other than the one in the display tank)?

Have a small amout of tubeing from the drain pipe in the tank to the sump , does really going sright down

and my return line goes down the back on my tank?

This video is maniley for the noise! its like a start stop start stop.....

And i have to turn my pump down other wise it will fill my tank up witch mean slower draining

Ok, with holes open you're starting and stopping a siphon which is causing that change in flowrate and the subsequent bubble "rush". You want to operate it with holes open. Bubbles are a fact of life with drain lines, they're there when the drain works properly like yours does with holes open. If the bubbling is annoying, try lifting the drain up in the sump so that the outlet of the drain is near the water surface. This will yield less noise

Thanks ski , so its ok for the downpipe to suck air in to it??? iv poked a tube down the hole in the white bit and it seems to make it alot better

(just a quick vid of it sucking air down)
