yep i had a pair a few weeks ago after seeing them in PFK, i sold them due to me stripping the tank down, and i had no plant troubles at all.

:grr:

I did keep them, they are very nice but they eat plants so fast and I like plants so I gave them away. They are not hard to keep they eat anything veggie and breed quite fast, the babies grow quite fast too. Some species like sand others prefer rocks or wood to crawl on. They prefer the water warm with high ph of 8 but I expect water about 25C and an alkaline ph should be okay for them. I had babies I didnt find when I gave them away that were doing fine at 24C and ph of 7.3. If you are not worried about plants then you should enjoy them.

Thanks Liam

They are in the tank now and buried deep in the sand , will get a pic when they come out
tank is temp 24-25 degrees
ph 7.2
nitrates 10-20
nitrites 0
ammonia 0

The guy sent me 4 2 big ones and 2 babies - the kids love them and if they eat the plants in their tank i'll just take some cuttings from the other tanks and replant (thats how i planted their tank in the first place)

Cheers Sarah x

Yeah truck the ones I had ate everything including anubias and they loved java ferns.

snails not come up yet lol
i dug 3 out the sand but they went right back in again
will take some pics when i can
but to explain them they are black with white tip on the end of their shells

Hi Pippoodle,

I have had mine for about 3 weeks now (4 adults) and recently last week one baby :D

There are loads of different species apparently, having searched the internet I think mine are gold spotted ones, look identical anyway! (see photos I found),

These are great snails and have lovely shells to. I keep mine in a planted tank (mainly Java fern) on a sand substrate and they seem fine, seen to eat algae, fish pellets, peas etc and so far not interested in the plants. Maybe not all these snail species eat plants??

Have you any photos?

Best wishes,
Pete

They had these in British Aquatics Stores Bolton and I was soo tempted but glad I didn't buy them now as I would have been gutted to see my planted tank devastated

They are very cute though just might want to look at calcium levels etc to keep them in good shape...

Hope you update us to how they get on :good:

still trying to get my pics will try again when i come back from seeing dora and diego with the kids tomorrow ---- what joy
