My female sword commited suicide yesterday while I was at work. She jumped clean out of the tank onto the tile..of course no one was home to save her...:-(. I've been running 2 filters on my tank to transfer some bacteria so the hood couldnt cover the top completely. I'm so sorry I lost her. :rip:

I'm so sorry your fish died, that's so sad :( we once had a giant danio jump out the back of the tank near the power filter :( very upsetting

I once saw the guy in my lfs trying to catch aquatic frogs. One jumped out and went on the floor between some boxes where it was dark. He made no attempt to rescue it and even made a joke about it.

I had a look myself but couldn't find it. I was so sad and kept imagining the horrible way in which the poor creature died :rip:

Its so sad..she was new in the environment because I just got her 2 days ago for my male sword.

It could be thought of as kind of Romeo & Julietish, I suppose.
So sorry to hear of your loss

fatbob - what a gorgeous tank setup you have there - VERY beautiful.
I might copy it.

I hate it when that happens.. :( RIP.

A betta of mine committed suicide over Christmas. He jumped into the u-bend of my sink during a water change, just as I was putting him back into his bowl. It was really sad.

I had a betta do that, and I tried to open up that part of the pipes, i even cut the palms of my hands from trying so hard, didnt have any kind of wrench or anything but i couldnt do it, so I ran the water so he went all the way through it was really sad. I couldnt stop crying. :rip:

:(

I had a red tail black shark do that, they were all in a spare tank as I was cleaning out the main one and didnt put a lid on, It attempted the jump to the main tank :( I also had two unknown fish try it, found them when I was searching for the crab that had escaped. Think they may have been golden barbs as two of them went missing without a trace - Don't have a clue how they escaped though!

Me too.. I was hysterical and I had no idea how the hell to open the damned pipes. No one was home, so I was crying and trying to wrench the damned thing open.. it didn't work. :(
Ya no one was home for me neither, and I was only 15. It was the fish that my bf (at the time) won for me. About 5 minutes after I ran the water my dad came home and he got the pipes open to check but it was too late.

I've had a gourami jump from the tank, but I found him after 15-30 minutes. He's still fine. My sister's ADF even took a 4' fall and continued to live on with no signs of injury.

Speaking of LFS fish jumping; when I worked at mine, we'd regularly get as many as 15 sword tail suicides in a new shipment. No other fish was this bad at it or even did it to my recollection. The worst one was 40. Even more strange is their lid was on and there was no perceivable way they could jump out but somehow they did.
