Suicide

I had one of my zebra danio's do this. I walked past the tank, thought it looked one too few, pulled everything out of the tank, couldn't find the extra fish!
Searched all around, couldn't find it at all. Must have been a good 10 or 15 minutes later I shined the torch down behind my bed, to see a shiny stripey thing down there.

Crawled under to get it out and dispose of, picked it up, and it started flipping about. :D

Back in the tank, all is well!

RIP

once when i was doing a water change on bettas bowl in jumped down the sink drain. i grabbed a flashlight a tore open the drain and it was there stuck to the side. i quikly scooped it up and put him back in his bowl and added some stress coat and now hes alright

I happened to look at the floor one day and see something fuzzy and strange laying there. I couldn't even tell what it was until I got close.

It turned out to be one of my African Clawed Frogs that had somehow escaped and hopped around on the ground for awhile. He was laying very still and was covered with dust and cat hair that had stuck to his wet body.

I was sure he was dead at that point, but I picked him up and put him in the tank. After floating still for a little while, he suddenly jumped and twisted somehow and shed all his skin, fuzz and all.

He was just fine after that and I learned to keep a very tight cover on their tank. :D

I've had a gourami jump from the tank, but I found him after 15-30 minutes. He's still fine. My sister's ADF even took a 4' fall and continued to live on with no signs of injury.
Hmmm...

The Shark couldn't have been out for longer than 5-10mins, I put it in the water while still holding it to see if it was alright and it seemed it was but a few days later it died I suppose it could've been unrelated....

OMG ravekiss....I got home today to find my newest swordy girl missing from the 10gal tank....knowing they jump I got up on a chair...on tiptoes...looked behind the tank...and there she was...covered in carpet.

I got the tongs out....(clean)....picked her up and she flipped out of them....went and got the spatula (the gap was too narrow for my hand)....and after a few flip flops I got her out and put her back in the 6gal ENCLOSED tank.....

I have no idea how long she was there....I was at work for 8 hours so..well...upto 8 hours I guess....

She is swimming around like nothing happened

correct me if i'm wrong:

Don't gourami's have an extra "open air" gland in their gills that allows them to breath undiluted water from the surface? (i.e. The Labrinthe I think)

Therefore, would that allow them to survive longer out of water than most fish?

Just a thought.

Im Sorry to hear of your lose. I had a JD commit suicide one time in teh middle of the night. I was very sad when I came down in the morning and found him.
