The only definitive way to ID it (to be honest it looks like a cross between a sinularia and Kenya tree to me) is to touch it. "True" colts are nothing short of slimeballs (literally, not figuratively), whereas Kenya trees are not, and rougher in texture when closed. True colts also do not shed mucous (closing up for days, then sloughing off a layer) whereas Kenya trees do.

Common names...

I did a little further research and it would appear that the creature I have identified in my tank as a "colt" is actually a Lithophyton and not Cladiella. But, colts are still slimey and Kenya trees are still rough. Hard to say, anyways... there are many different species, and even more common names, of coral. Try google searching "Cladiella" and see what you see.

Thanks for the diggin' Lynden :)

Much appreciated. I looked up Lithophyton and Cladiella on Google. Still believe its the Cladiella Colt Coral. Havent reached in to check sliminess yet haha but will let u know asap (im at work right now). Thanks for the help though!
