Hello everyone,
For anyone who didn't see my first few posts - I'm new on the forum. I have been an aquarist for about 2 years now, but it is only around 3 months since I setup my first Tropical setup, so I could do with a few pointers on what I can/can't pick for my tank...
The tank itself is a 120 litre (around 26 gallons - it's just a Juwel Rio 120) tank, so it should house quite a few... I currently have a shoal of 10 Cardinals, an Albino Corydora, a Spotted Corydora (sometimes called a "Talking Catfish" I believe, as he squeaks when he's out of water ), an upside-down catfish, a red-tail shark, a Crowntail Betta, a male/female pair of sailfin mollies & finally a shoal of 15 baby mollies from the sailfin's which I'm currently raising
The 2 adult sailfins and the Betta are by far the biggest fish in there, and they're only around 2-3 inch long (not including their finnage of course!) so I imagine I still have room for quite a few yet....
Here's a list of fish that I know the names of/have seen recently - can anyone tell me what they find to be compatible/what not to be compatible?
Angelfish - I do know that these are normally not recommended alongside Betta's - however, I will certainly be investing in another Tropical tank before the end of the year (probably a 300 litre/60gallon+ size tank), so if it was safe enough to keep them in for a year or so until I got a bigger tank, that would be great as I love Angels... If they would grow too big inside of a year and would become a threat to the Betta and the Cardinals, then I'll just have to wait to get some
Cichlids - I had a lovely pair of firemouths when I was about 10 years old... can I keep those with my current fish?
Gourami - Well, the blue and the pearl type to be exact... I love those two colours ... the honey ones are nice too... since they're anabantoids, could they do well alongside my Betta?
Elephant Nose - I've seen some of these beautiful fish in my local pet store and they're so unusual... however, I have seen some of them at quite a large size, so I don't want to end up with anything that is too big for it's home...
Also - I love anything else that is unusual, like Apple snails, shrimp, crabs, tropical frogs etc..... I've never bought anything except Apple Snails though, for fear of incompatibility or them getting eaten! If anyone has any wierd and wonderful suggestions for other creatures - I'm all ears!
