Hi,

Sorry for being stupid, but does a filter act as an air pump, or is a seperate air pump required?

Thanks for your time. :*)

dont worry about daft questions.. you should search for some of the rubbish i have asked ;)

A filter is a must, but an air pump is not always required. Some filters like the juwel internal filter that i have enable you to add a venturi attachement to pass air to create bubbles in the filter output.. I only used that whilst cycling the tank though.. i dont use it now.

The filter will help keep your tank clean, whilst the air pump will help oxygenate your water. However depending on the setup, extra aireation (**SPELLING) is not always required, and in some cases should not be used (thats what i've heard.. ie. loads of plants.. i could be wrong)

Cheers
