Opinions please on whether to add strontium or not, would I really gain anything by adding it :good:

I was talking to chap that told me pulsing xenia's need it, is this true :/

link in sticky won't work just keeps sending me to forum index :/

There is a good section in THE BOOK sis - as Ski pointed out to me the other day :good:

Basically don't bother, not much benefit, very hard to test for anyway. Calcium is more important :good:

I wouldn't go adding all sorts of additives as you've got such a small tank and regular waterchanges should provide all the chemicals that are needed for your tank.
Folks can get too bogged down with literature and think they need this and that to solve a problem that they think they might have, more often that not they often exasperate the problem and make matters worse by upsetting the balance. If all your major parms check out then I'd be cautious about adding anything else.
For instance I cant get my Pom Pom Xenia to flourish and grow like its supposed to (weed) Fellow reefers have suggested Iodine but I'm totally hesident about adding extra for fear of upsetting anything else which are fine.

Yep totally agree with Big C. If your doing regular water changes with a decent brand of salt and dont have a tank full of SPS/LPS corals there is not really any need to does anything. Unless you are extremely careful about testing the water and dosing consistently you will end up doing more harm then good.

My Xenia is doing absolutely fine (and has been for a year) with nothing more then regular water changes.

The only time I would say differently is if you have a massive tank and doing 10% water changes every week-2weeks is a major undertaking, in that case it may be easier to dose what gets used then to do water changes (but still have to test everything constantly, best rule is to never dose anything unless you are testing for it).

Yeah, also remember, Stronium is only POSSIBLY necessary in hard corals. Xenia wouldn't need it for sure ;)

xenia might benefit from iodene though?

Thanks Big man but have decided to leave all well alone for now everything with the exception of my colt coral, Blooming thing is driving me mad :grr: is doing well, my xenia is growing well and has started creeping over to new piece of LR, it even pulses :good:

Try placing the colt in a stronger flow.
