Stronger laws on animal murdering?

WHERE DO YOU LIVE?! if the police are so damn lazy that they can't get off there asses to get someone who is a threat to society, takes drugs, and is an alchoholic, then thats definately a place i'm taking note not to go to.....thats just pathetic. i don't know who i'm more pissed at.....the mental case himself, or the priority!

I have no idea why they won't commit him.. they won't even get him help!!! It's probably because they're living in the back end of beyond, the kind of town with a post office and a pub and thats about it.

A few days ago my friends cat was shot on the back fence of its home.It had its face blown in by a pellet gun.It is now deaf and blind.The owners know the people who did this and have prove but the authoritys dont want to know.I just think there should be stronger laws on incidents like this because there is no need to kill or injure someones innocent pet like that.What do you people think?

Yeah, definitely. My friend used to live way out in the middle of nowhere, next to some people who had a problem with people who weren't "their type" or something. They must've really been hillbillies, because my friend isn't even that well off lol... Anyways, apparently they were complete idiots--they were constantly pestering her horses (throwing rocks at them, purposely scaring them, etc), vandalizing her property, riding their ATV's around in the middle of the night, just generally they were jerks. Then, they shot and killed her dog, which was the straw that broke the camel's back, and she moved somewhere else. The stupid sherriff's department did nothing.

I don't know how many ppl notice, but anymore most towns are like that somewhere in the city limits. we have the police on our street at least once a day. it's just the way things are anymore, and it really sux but most ppl won't do anything about it and that 's why it's gotten so bad, that and the fact that ppl in general, expect everybody else to do things for them and not defend themselves.

Ladynaoko, kudos to your friends mom for handling the drunk guy so well.

I don't mean ppl should take everything into their own hands, but somethings it's necessary.

There are a lot of cases of animal abuse like that around here, and I agree the laws should be stricter about it.
But I think you should be able to take action against animals that come onto your property and cause trouble. We have a neighbor with well over 30 cats, most of which are diseased. We don't hesitate to shoot them if they start coming onto our land and fighting with our cats.

That could be a different case though.If the cats are diesesed then the man should be done for not looking after the cats and have them took off him.

If they are that bad. then, contact your local human society and do some thing posative not destructive.

You're killing animals because they don't know any better. That is DISGUSTING!

I agree with Danio2004. There are people you can call that deal with these situations in a more HUMANE way.

Yes, it's just wonderful having to send our cats to the vet everytime we turn around and have to give them stiches and other medications so they don't die because someone can't keep track of their cats. We've tried complaining to animal control but they don't do anything. As cruel and inhumane as it may sound I would rather get rid of those cats then risk losing my own.
I don't think every single animal that comes onto our property should be killed, but when it happens time after time and our animals are suffering because of it, I'm going to do something about it.

Well that's the chance that you take when you have outdoor cats! There is a big chance that they will get into fights, get hit by cars etc. But I would never expect to find out that my cat was shot. Yes I agree that the owners should take responsibility for their animals. However, the animals should not have to suffer from their stupidity. Cats DO NOT know any better. They are doing what comes natural to them. You cannot tell a cat where and when it can go somewhere. And to be honest their cats have just as much a right to go out as anyone else.
How would you feel if they shot your cat? Because I would not just sit around at home if you shot mine.


If my cats health were in jeopardy...and the owner or animal control refused to do something...I would simply take the cat into a humane society or shelter.

I'm sorry if I sound a little rude right now(anyone who has talked with me on these boards would know that I'm not like that ) but this really hit a nerve with me.

I totally understand why you feel like you have to do something. They are your babies...I get that. You want to protect them. But I just feel like there are better ways of going about it.

I edited my post above to tell you what I would do.

How does he know they are diseased for sure? If they were and his cat was bitten and if they had something serious like FIP, FIV, or Rabies his cat would already have it.

And keeping a cat indoors for it's whole life is actually safer.

yes..of course it's safe....but does the cat like it? does the cat not sit at windows and doors, trying to escape every chance they get?

most cats i know do.

maybe the owner of the cats should actually take care of his own cats, and take them to the humane society himself....it doesn't sound to me like he even gives a crap about them.

even if they are taken to the humane society, they most likely will be put to sleep anyway...

just felt like askin....have you ever been to kentucky? it is common depending on where you're from.
