I have 4 Mollies (2 female white, 1 male dalmation, and 1 I was told was a male, but has developed quite a belly on it  ). Anyway one of the white Mollies just hides out behind the bubble stone, and anywhere else she can. She comes out to eat, but only after a few seconds. When we bought the 4 fish, the lady told us that the dalmations were males, and that the white ones were "very pregnant"(like fry in a couple days). Yea, well that was like a week ago and no fry. But that is okay. I guess my question would be (1) why is this one mollt hiding out, and (2) how can you really tell male from female?

1-Is your tank cycled? What are your params? How big is the tank? Any other fish in there?

2-you can tell if one's a male by the gonopodium-it's a tube-like anal fin (under the tummy) the males have that, and the females have a fan-shaped anal fin instead. They should be at a ratio of 2 females per male

They are in a 20 gallon tank with 3 Mickey Mouse Platy. What are "params". And I am not sure about the "cycle" thing. It set up w/out fish for 3 weeks, and we have had the platy for 4 weeks and the mollies for 10 days. Does that help any?

"Params" is short for parameters. What are you measurements for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, temperature, and such?

Is the fish a female? Fish will hide out before giving birth sometimes.
