Stones/rocks From Lfs

Okay i aint got the slightest bit of clue to what rock is what but i do know some will raise pH ect.
I bought a handful of funky lookin stones from my LFS other day, filled 2 cups up with tank water & placed a stone in 1.

Here's my results;
pH with stone = 7.2
pH without stone = 7.2
pH in tank = 6.8.

I'm guessing these are okay? I bought some stones/rocks a few year back in my newbie days that i now know was tufa rock (i think) and it shot my pH right up and i lost a few fish
