I'm in process of cycling my 10g tank. I was wanting to put 1 drawf gourami 2 platys and 4 ghost shrimp. I'm also gonna be planting live plants when cycle is complete. NONE of this will happen until cycle is complete. My question is, is these fish to much, not enough, or just right for my tank? Thanks!

Platys are best in at least a 15 gal tank, would say 20 g tank would be better for platies.

Also the Dwarf Gouramis will probably eat the ghost shrimps if in the same tank

Sorry!

Good to hear though you're doing research first and doing a fishless cycle, nice one

yes thats fine just make sure the platys are males otherwis otherwise they will get to big and you will mos tlikely have babes you could probbaly have a group of 5 micro fish e.g chilli rasboras endlers livebearer galaxy rasbora e.t.c no guppys though tthe dwarf g will probably kill them

conflicting opinions

Do you like things like, chili raboras, betta, pygmy cories, hasbora cories, guppies, african dwarf frogs, most shrimp like ghost or cherry shrimp, most snails like nerites or mystery snails, lame eye killisfish to name a few, not all in the same tank of course lol

In their native habitat the gourami eat shrimp a good bit so the ghosties will be hunted and devoured. Also I agree with the platys needing 15 gallons at the least.

Ten gallons are not really good for much except raising fry, shrimp and quarantine setups.

I would go with guppies but then i like guppies

Thanks for the replies! I thought to maybe instead of platys just going with a school of cherry barbs with the one quorami but that may be overstocked?

Not so sure on Cherry Barbs with a Dwarf Gourami, they MAY nip at the DG feelers. Not guaranteed to be ok.

How about something like 8 Chilli Rasboras and a Dwarf Gourami, that should be comfortably stocked for a 10 gal.

I think cherry barbs need at least a 30 gallon tank.

I kept a dwarf gourami with 3 ghost shrimp for a year with no problems

OK I've changed my mind and not looking at gouramis now. So if I were to get 2 different species and would like 5-6 fish total without overstocking are there any. ideas out there?

Well did you read my list? See anything you like?

I like guppies and rasboras and ghost shrimp. Will the two work if so how many? also my LPS doesn't carry the chili's but has some rasboras just not sure exactly the kind.
