Good to know! I went ahead and actually started with Otos (bit daring I know) but so far they seem quite happy. In two weeks or so I'll probably add the barbs, then in maybe a month I'll add the gouramis.

My water company says the pH is: Parameter Test Results 3/11/2021 pH 7.4 Secondary MCL 6.5 – 8.5
I have to add some crushed coral to get it to 7.0 to 7.2.
