Fish Fanatic
I had bought The 101 Best Tropical Fishes for my family so we could debate more as a family about what we wanted to add to a 50 gallon tank once we get it ready. I noticed that in the book that it has some model community tanks. There is a 10 gallon (38 L) Dwarf-Cichlid Nesting Tank that I thought looked interesting and had 1 kind of fish that I wouldn't mind getting. But the thing is it seems that there are more fish in it then what should be possible.
For the midwater to Top swimmer it suggest 4 Lemon Tetras, for the bottom dwellers it suggest 2 Cockatoo Dward Cichlids (pair) and 3 Threestrip Corydoras Catfish (Wood, Kathereen, The 101 Best Tropical Fishes, 2007, TFH Publications, p. 31). There are a couple of other setups I like but but like I said I'm really iffy about it. Of course I could put them in a bigger tank and know that everyone is going to be happy and not fighting for space or growing room.
Lemon Tetra=1.5 in (p. 137) (4= 6 inches)
Cockatoo Dward Cichlid= Males 3.5 in, Female 1.5 in (p. 72) (A pair = 5 inches)
Threestrip Corydoras Catfish= 2.5 in (p. 50) (3= 7.5 inches)
18.5
I probably just answered my own question there but any thoughts would be appreciated.
