Hello All,

Just currently going through my 2nd week in my fishless cycle,Just starting to think about what fish to stock once the cycle is complete.

I have a 20 (UK) Gallon tank with Gravel Substrate, Bogwood & Real Plants

I was thinking

6x Peppered Cory
4x Amano Shrimp
5x Gourami ( 4 Female 1 Male) Not sure what type of gourami yet though

Then im not too certain what else to have....

Any ideas? :good:

The cories and shrimp will do a fine thing with keeping it clean. I wouldn't add a pleco. It would depend on your gourami type for sizing, however that looks pretty good so far.

depending on the gourami, might they not be too big adult size for a 20 gal tank?

Just seen some really nice Cichlids !

What shall i pick Cichlids or Gouramis ? :S

Depends on the cichlid type that your looking at. Some type of cichlids are very aggressive and some are pretty peaceful. Just got to know what type your getting first.

alright then, no pleco, but for the gouramis, dwarf gouramis would be a good choice.
Actually dwarf gouramis arent a very good choice. Ask almost anyone on here who has kept them and hear how many of them are diseased. They are almost always diseased and wont last long...There are may other gouramis though (And prettier ones too IMO) Pearl Gouramis would look great and are hardier than dwarf gouramis and spectacular looking :good: I would suggest staying away from the dwarf gouramis.

My personal favorite type of gourami are sparkling gourami's, which I think in your tank would be perfect. They are hardy, kind of shy but have a ton of personality, very pretty, and just overall amazing fish. :good:

I love sparkling gouramis  I just cant ever find them around me. Those would be a great fish also :good: Good suggestion.

The mix of fish is fine, but I'd be concerned about putting that many in a 20 gal.

I was recommended a thick lipped gourami which is slightly bigger than a dwarf gourami but are more peaceful. Apparently you can keep 2 males without any problems and they are not aggressive towards the other fish :good: Also for the cichlids you might want to consider the blue/golden rams. Ther are quite pretty and IMO a pair will fit in nicely in your 20gal

sparkling/honey/thick lipped/chocolate gourami's would all be fine in a 20gal, although some need a nice low pH and a mature tank.

any other gourami is too big for a 20gal IMHO and steer well celar of dwarf gourami's.

only cichlids i can think of suitable are apistogramma's or dwarf cichlids, rams, kribs or shelldwellers pretty much everything else gets too big
