Stingray Pleco

I have seen one which could be named a Stingray Pleco. It has a long tail with a fin at the end which resembles a Stingray though I don't know if it's a common name for it or not. This might be what I'm thinking of.

Wow! I was just looking for info on a weird catfish/pleco I saw at the LFS, and this is the guy! http://www.planetcatfish.com/icosa/article...oma_microps.htm

Has anyone ever kept one of these Pterosturisoma microps?

I'd be curious to hear first-hand accounts and not just rehashes of the info out there, if possible ... very cool looking fish - living fossil design on this baby!

Some stupid shops call hillstream loaches 'stingray plecs' amongst other things, see hillstream loaches here

They are coldwater fish, the need clean, fast flowing water, smooth stones and broad leaved plants and they need to go into a mature tank as they eat micro-organisms in the algae.

HTH

Yep, I'd agree. I have seen Hillstreams called them, however, they are not Plecs and are infact Loaches. :)

I used to have one. They are more commonly called 'hillstream loaches'. Unfortunatly they require cold water and so they don't do too well in tropical water.
