what minnnt said, plus corys in a 10 gallon isnt a good plan, its not big enough really. I would also be careful with the serpaes, they can be a little nippy. Tanks looking good!

Yeah the pea shingle was intially done as a temporary fix until the external filter funds gets sourced then ada soil with fine gravel on top fully aquascaped by green machine in the pipe works.

The plants are ok at the moment but i was going to use easycarbo and profito as advised by the green machine just waiting for the bank balance to creep up

Finally got some ferts and carbon yesterday. Easylife ProFito and EasyLife EasyCarbo from green machine. £11 for both bargain.

So dosing 10ml a week of ProFito and 1ml a day EasyCarbo. Should see some growth soon i hope. Got to say the amazon sword and java fern do look much greener already though

Also got a new filter for the daughter. 200l/h mini pump for the 3 gallon, stocking with feshwater shrimp and small plants

Dose the fertiliser daily too. And don't forget you will need to be doing 50% weekly water changes. I like to do 2 25% water changes weekly though.

Ive already dosed the 10ml on Wednesday just gone so due a water change next Wednesday and will daily dose from then. Im now considering running Co2 alongside the EasyCarbo for added boost.

So far the lights are on 11a until 2pm then 7pm until 12pm with a break in between on a timer. Does this sound ok?

It would be a waste of time dosing the liquid carbon if injecting pressurized co2 as it is far superior. You would be dosing LOADS of fertiliser to keep the plants going as they would always be requiring more nutrients. Lights sound good too.

Try and split the water changes into 2 25% ones as it will keep the nutrient level more consistant.

Just a side note, thinking on really going to town with the plant setup and was wondering if this would be good for the bottom of the tank compost

Stones on top of course.
Ive read that aquatic compost is ok due to no added ferts that could kill fish. Is this right?

There are plenty of soil substrates for tanks so can't see a problem. Maybe ask in the planted section for a definate answer as I have never used one.

Hi guys just a quick question,

Just looked at my tubes i have in my tank and they are the following spec.

18W 4000K Warm White colour (L18W/840) with 20000 hour average lamp life, 1350 lumen

Says nothing about spectrum or anything about being able to use them for growing plants.

Will they be ok???

Dont really want to buy new bulbs if i dont have too. Thanks in advance

Will be fine mate. Plants will adapt to whatever you give them. Should be full spectrum.

Ok so been a while and thought i would show how the tanks doing. So last week had a collosal diatom outbreak but finally got it under control.

Tank is now 3 months old been dosing profito and easycarbo everyday for 2 months and seeing some good growth especially the cambomba, this has been split 3 times now and is still rocketing up. Also added a fluval 2 plus filter to help polish the water, got to say its working well.
