i had an idea to cycle my new tank more quickly, i have had th filter for the new tank running in my current tank along with its normal filter so the benificial bacteria should have built up so now if i put that in my new tank , along with a little gravel and a few hard fis, will the tank cycle quicker?? :dunno:

Depending on the size of the two tanks, you nay not even get a spike of any kind when you clone a tank the way you have. To ensure all is fine, once you move the filter back to the new tank just add some ammonia if you have any and check 24 hours later the reading should be zero. About a 5 ml of ammonia would give a good indication. HTH :)

ok cheers, i have a 29g and the new tank is 10g so i thought their would be more than enuf. i have the new one running now and will do like you say with the ammonia. cheers
