Spawn Log, Gerard And Cream

Well, I found a different method of breeding I really prefer (it's easier), and so I tryed it. The male is constructing his bubble nest right now, with the female! She's showing her breeding bars, and Gerard (the male) wants her! Here's pictures of the parents!

I should be getting Copper/Reds and Red Multi from these spawns.

Ok, I'm going to try something. Cream is in her Chiminey vase, so I may add a bit of stress coat in.

Well, I re-released Cream around 5 last night, and I belive they have started spawning! I think I see a few eggs in the nest! Though the next isnt' that big, so I don't think it will be that big of a spawn.

Well, I feed my bettas food high in protien always. So I really don't have to condition. I keep the water real clean too.

Then, I release the male and the female in the breeding tank at the same time, I let them get aquainted to each other. Then I add the slightest ammount of Stress Coat (when I did this, the females breeding bars got brighter). Then, I kinda just let them do their thing. It's way eaiser, and there are no chiminey vases in the wild, so I don't use them. Put a big towel over the tank, and keep the room dark, except have the tank lights on.

hey. earlier you said she was in a chimney vase. Also, why keep the room dark if the tank is covered in a towel and you have the tank lights on anyways? Seems kinda pointless to me...

EDIT: Did you have their tanks side by side for a few weeks before hand or anything like that?

Ya, I tried a new method, that one wasn't working out.

The towel is so that they can't see anything outside the tank, it adds a calming effect, plus, I need it on there so I can sleep

Whats you breeding tank like? Depth of water? Temp?

Well, I'm using a 10 gallon, filled up half way. I have the temp set at 83.

Ah I'll try doing it that way next time. Only problem is my heater hangs off the side of the tank and getting it down there ot heat a half full tank. HM
