again..I hate double posting but..haha here goes...Ohglie had quite a little nest going...biggest one ive ever seen...so last night i put the female in a glass viewing vase (dont know what its called) and put it in the 10gal next to him...it was quite a show they flared back and forth at each other...she was showing subbmissive signs by the end of the night really...(although I wasnt going to put her in there till maybe late tuesday night or wednesday morning....) But it seems like ohglie got so distracted that he let his nest deplete and there is nothing left...?? So I waited to see if hed make another one but not a single bubble yet...so i put half a cup in there and still not a bubble although he hangs out under it a lot...sooo...what should I do...?? haha im stuck... :dunno:

hmmm, don't be scared to let her go right away if that situation ever happens again. They might just do it right away. For now a water change (like half with a syphon, leave him in) might persuade him to nest again. Or, you can take a spoonful of a nest from another betta, put it under the cup and that should most definitely work.

By the way, keeping a spawn diary most often requires you to post after yourself on occasion, so don't even worry about that.

wuv...thanks for the advice...haha just so much to take in...new to forums...new to spawning...haha but its all a wonderful expierence...

I gave him a 50% water change today with the siphon and gave him some big fat bloodworms to think on...haha so tomorrow if there is a nest I will let her go...if not ill go around and try adding some nests from my other boys....thanks again...ill keep you updated!

OH! haha I forgot to update..I got sucked into all the other spawn diaries and the polls haha...well I gave him a couple of days, a water change...and even tried to use some bubbles from my other guys...still no nest... :*) :/ so I decided to take him out and start over...Im going to condition him all this week (and her) and then, start again next week....so I guess we will see :)

That happens. They bubble nest when ya don't need them to, and refuse to when it's important. Men

If you have Tropical Science products in your area- I highly recommend Amazon Rain, no betta can refuse to bubble nest and spawn in that :hey: Blackwater works well, too.
