Something needs to change...

:dunno: Should it be pinned? Wuv? That's two requests. I thought about it, and figure that maybe it would be a good idea to at least have pinned for a little while, almost as a reminder of sorts. Things were getting way out of hand, and maybe it would help things calm down and get back to how they were. Hopefully. -_- Anyways, up to you mods. :p

I saw we have a pinned thread on betta info sites... perhaps we could make one containing links specifically for conditioning, breeding, and raising the fry? :dunno:

Pinned.

cc~ I believe steppy has a pinned article with tons of links.

I saw that, but I was thinking that a thread (or a post on steppy's thread) on all the links about breeding bettas would be more helpful than having to sort through the links that steppy compiled, which are on keeping bettas in general. :dunno:

Thanks Steppy! I'll send you some links I have when I have time to collect them.

Ahh, I have been completely successful. In what you ask? I have successfully kissed the entire path julie will walk on for the rest of her life. :* :* :* :* :* :* :D I respect this thread and Julie for a lot of reasons.

1) It takes guts to write some of this. I understand how it would be inappropriate for moderators to complain about issues like this, (you know who you are) and it just shows how one person was not afraid to stand up to these conflicts.

2) Secondly, this thread shows how experienced breeders and betta owners like Julie, wuv, cc, etc. take time to do an abundance of research, and then find unintelligent beginners on the verge of not only breeding with a lack of knowledge, but also threatening a fish's life.

3) The thread shows that she cares about not only the well beings of other fish, but of the owners. Research is key to understanding breeding, and of the stresses involved.

4) It simply is straight forward and direct to those who seek this advice.

Here is a quote I made up appropriate for this thread

Hard work should be paid off with some positive results, it shouldn't turn into "something learned the hard way".
Learn it, live it, love it.

Im sorry to sound rude Julie but.....

Look I really would like breeding bettas which Im doing right now. :)

Im breeding pet-store bettas or the "Crappy Bettas" as people call them.

But money is a BIG to me Im 14 years old all im trying to do is doing what I love most Fish. Whats a good way to express ur love by breeding the fish u love in this case Bettas. Sure im not like people here who own horses and farms and big houses. My family could barely afford this house, but still I wanna do this breeding thing.

Also I cant afford hundred dollar bettas can any of u?

I would never call veiltails crappy bettas. They're wonderful fish. I wanted to breed them myself in the beginning. Now I really understand why it's best not to though... And as far as money being an issue for you, I completely understand that too. Trust me, I'm a college student who is constantly broke. Just ask Sorrell or Chris. But the thing is, when you breed veils (and often even fancy types!) you're actually losing money. That you can ask Kelly about. :p So basically, I am waiting to breed now until I am sure I can actually make a profit from selling the fry, or have enough money to not mind losing most of it. And I know I can't do that unless I have really nice fry... from really nice parents. Just my point of view!

Actually Im not breeding VTs......

Im breeding a mix of CTs and HMs Also Im not doing this for the money julie ;) Im trying to expand my knwoledge of knowing the secrets of the bettas... :)

Wuv and CuteCotton they were there when I saw my bettas embrace for the very first time I wanted almost to cry and laugh cause the male dindt know what to do. :p ( Not offending males here Im myself am a MACHO )I kept writing in big letters everything was so exicited..... If u ask anybody who has bred bettas tell them how there first experiance was.....they tell u a one hour storie. .

Back to the topic also I aree with u that people shouldnt breed VTs. Theres too many orphan VTs with out a home in PetsMart, Petco, Walmart and Ur local one. What do they do when they die Who knows they dont know how to take care of them...

Also Julie if I ever get a nice spawn I was going to give some away in TFF. my long fish home..... I would give them away to people here who would really want some...... Espeacially HMs and SDs.........and maybe even CTs :fun:

 Not to belabor it, but I agree. I have done the research just too learn and I never plan on raising baby Bettas, never did. They are just wounderful fish to have.

it seems to me julie, that people can do whatever they want with their bettas. Leave them alone.

No one is saying that people can't breed their bettas. If you read closly as to what we are saying, you will see that all we did was break down betta breeding into the cold hard truth. If you've done all your research and you believe you can accomadate a spawn, then we wish you the best of luck. Perhaps you ought to reread what Julie and myself were saying before you tell her to leave people alone. :sly:

I missed the part where julie told people they can't breed their bettas.

I think this is a great thread that everyone even interested in bettas should read.
