Beautiful looking tank Zoe! :good:
Has it got an external filter like mine? I've found it to be really effective and not had any problems.
Is it the Fluval tank? If you get stuck on how to fix the perspex lid, give me a shout and I'll let you know how Steve did mine. ;)

Thanks stang! It does have an external, its an eheim. Its actually an oldish jewel tank I got from ebay for £30!

Looks like a great start!! What size is it?

Its 90 litres, they have 22 litres each well a bit less as the water level is a bit lower than the fullest volume
doesn't the external create alot of water flow? asking because i thought bettas didn't like that

The external filters are perfect Kewskills for a fighter tank as you can control the flow. My tank is similar to Zoe's and I have a pvc outlet pipe with holes in along the back of the tank. The filter is at a minimum and barely moves the water. In fact, my boys like sleeping on or behind the pipe!

thanks for the answer, i have been thinking of making my spare tank into a betta tank, never had them yet so still investigating :)

like stang says barely any flow, we've a section in one slot you can see in the pic that is also divided off in the same way as the sections are with perspex with holes in and the spray bar is attached and in the water to slow the flow, they have made nests fine.

£30, you lucky girl! It looks great and I bet they'll love having all that room! ;)

Bargain wasnt it! there was one i was watching that was better but finished after so i didnt bid in the end but it went for less :-( gutted. They arent sure about he extra height yet, one was in a 2.5 g and the other in a 2g and they look a little lost still at the mo, with more plants etc im sure they will be a bit more at home

Awww, bless them! They'll soon settle in, it took mine a couple of days to get used to their new surroundings. I didn't know whether mine would bother using all that space but t just gives them more room to show off!

P.S. I am now going to spend more time on E-bay in the hope of getting a bargain...

Its best to go for ones that finish at odd times so people arent there to bid! Some fish tanks go for stupid amounts!

Mine are investigating all the space but tend to hang out in one area, cant be too unhappy as there are nests!

their beautiful

Thank you, actually they are the plainest two

They'll be fine, I'm sure of it. I just put some rock and planted wood in mine and they like to hide out in that sometimes. I say hide out but it's actually them hiding so well just to scare the life out of me when I can't find them! I swear they do it on purpose

I hate it when they hide. My Val is in tank with blue and turquoise glass pebbles. What colour is he? turquoise! I peer in the sides and then open the top in a panic...he swims up glares at me and demands food......

 That's what I love about them, the look they give you after scaring the life out of you!
